Is the end nigh?
World War I veteran dies aged 108 – http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/leicestershire/7712943.stm.
Three of the four surviving British veterans, Henry Allingham, 112, Harry Patch, 110, and Bill Stone, 108, of World War I have helped mark the 90th anniversary of the end of the conflict – http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7720601.stm.
I remember that one of, I think it was, Nostradamus’ predictions was that when the people who witnessed the ‘greatest war’ have passed on, the end of the world will be near.
But then maybe the greatest war is yet to come. As Albert Einstein said – “I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.”
It will be a shame that these living memories will be lost in the next few years because it makes it easier to unlearn the lesson of history!
