Apparently there are some bars offering free drinks to women. Where? Not in Birmingham or Wolverhampton. We, Midlanders, including the female of the species, know how to wet our throats and so the local watering holes do not need to make desperate attempts to get into their establishments .

Seriously, though, it was this quote that caught my eye “Government needs to wake up to the fact that five pubs a day are closing in Britain.” And they would care, why?

I’d have been out of the business years ago when subsequent govenment policies have continously eroded the pub trade. It will never – n e v e r – recover. At least not the local, round the corner pub unless they become the bland same old pub food factories that a lot of the bigger ones – including chain pubs – are turning into.

Or the alternative – they can all start to offer free beer!
