A bank of *ankers
‘A nation of bankers’ is what the Metro headline said. I could not help and think it should have said something completely. Here we are the people who paid to keep them lot in gravy for years and when the stuff hits the fan, guess which muggings have to pay again to safeguard the money the Government failed to take from us. We are paying to safeguard our own savings! If you have £100 in saving, you’ve just paid over 10 times that amount to make sure you do not lose it.
And it is our Governments’ fault (note the plural). Encourage us to pay into pensions, encourage us to save our money, encourage us to borrow beyond our means – especially if you can secure it against the money you have invested in your house – and all things will be nice and dandy. The economy will grow, per capita income growing etc etc. No-body told us the real risk of giving these sharks access to our earning past and future – and even our employers fell into the trap so that now – as in the last recession – even our jobs – yes, you included Mr Standard Taxpayer- are in jeopardy.
Exactly when will we idiots realise that this bunch of public school, Oxford-Cambridge educated bunch do not have our best interest at heart? I do not have a degree in economics/finance/politics (delete inapplicable) but nor do I have a degree is being an f**king idiot! Come the good times again, we will see if they smell my dosh!
A new description for a collection of bankers, I certainly think so.
